Dr. Genét Simone is a teacher, author, and leader in contemplative education. She is heavily involved with the Evolutionary Collective (www.Evolutionarycollective.com), an organization of individuals across the United States and other parts of the world, who are committed to creating a new paradigm of human relatedness and stewardship of the Planet Earth. She joined the group in 2015, and is now actively engaging with the principles and practices of Mutual Awakening through leading groups in the Pacific Northwest, and writing the Evolutionary Collective Teacher Training curriculum.
Professionally, Dr. Simone has been a teacher educator since 1993, and is currently Academic Program Director and Senior Instructor for Western Washington University, Teacher Education Outreach Programs, in Bremerton, WA. Her program focuses on K-8 Teacher Certification with Endorsements in Elementary and Special Education. Dr. Simone teaches courses in lesson planning, assessment, and classroom management, Foundations of Education, and Social Studies Methods. She oversees all aspects of school placements for teacher candidates, and recruits and trains field supervisors for their role as mentors and liaisons between the University and communities spanning 7 school districts on the Kitsap Peninsula.
Also informing Dr. Simone’s perspective on human relatedness and paradigm shifts was her work as an Adjunct Faculty for Naropa University’s Master’s Degree Program in Contemplative Education (Boulder, CO). In 1999, Dr. Simone was invited by core faculty at Naropa to advise on the creation of a new Master’s Degree program. From 2000-2013, she continued to advise the department, create curriculum, and teach classes to graduate students all over the world. Resulting from those years of teaching and consulting, is Dr. Simone’s forthcoming book “Writing a Thesis From the InsideOut: How to Empower Yourself and Change the World” (Balboa Press).
